04Who uses it

Who runs the Stocking Guide

  • Independent and franchise dealers deciding whether a nameplate belongs on the lot.
  • Buyers heading to auction who want a Max Bid grounded in the local market, not a national book.
  • Dealer groups checking how a model moves in one store’s market before moving units.

05Questions

Before you run it

How is the Max Bid calculated?
From the local market price band back to a bid: target retail margin (15% by default), typical reconditioning cost ($1,500 by default) and floor plan cost are taken off the expected exit. The report also shows expected turn days, projected net and the dealer economics for the plan.
What does demand-to-supply mean here?
Recently off-market units (a sold proxy at last list price) set against the standing active supply for the same make and model in your radius, with separate thresholds for bidding at auction and for stocking the lot.
Does it use sale prices?
Every figure is a listed price. Active comparables are current asking prices and recently off-market comparables are shown at their last list price, the closest observable proxy to a transaction. Negotiated sale prices are private and not in the data.
What if I do not have a make and model in mind yet?
Run Market Movers first. It ranks the nameplates in your market by demand-to-supply and gives you an avoid list. The Stocking Guide then pins trims, years and a Max Bid for one of them.
What do I need and what does it cost?
Make, model and the ZIP of your lot. Trim, year or year range, target margin, recon cost and channel sharpen the numbers. $1.99 per run. Connect the MarketCheck AI Desk to Claude or ChatGPT once and ask in plain English, or run it from this website. You pay per report from a credit balance, with no subscription.
