# Stocking Guide

> What to stock and how to price it for a make and model in your area.

**Price:** $1.99 per report. Runs inside Claude or ChatGPT (MCP), or as a shareable hosted web report. Pay per report, no subscription.

Market-side stocking intelligence for a dealer: supply count, demand-to-supply ratio (auction-bid AND lot-stocking thresholds), recent price drops nearby, recently off-market evidence (a sold proxy at last list), Max Bid formula with target margin + recon + floor plan, expected turn days, projected net profit, dealer economics (front-end gross + cost to market at the max-bid plan), top trims/colors/years, CPO market analysis. Use when a dealer asks what to stock or what to bid for a MAKE/MODEL (not specific VINs) in their local market, how a model is moving, or its right price band. To rank specific candidate VINs the user already has, use Acquisition Fit Report instead.

## Inputs

### Required
- **make** (e.g. `Toyota`): Vehicle make (e.g. Toyota, Ford, Honda).
- **model** (e.g. `RAV4`): Vehicle model (e.g. RAV4, F-150, Civic).
- **zip** (e.g. `60601`): ZIP code of the dealer's lot (anchors the local supply analysis).

### Recommended
- **trim** (e.g. `XLE`): Specific trim level (e.g. XLE, LX, Sport). Improves Max Bid precision.
- **year** (e.g. `2022`): Specific model year. Use this OR year_range, not both.
- **year_range** (e.g. `2020-2022`): Year range like "2020-2022". Use this OR year, not both.
- **target_margin_pct** (e.g. `0.15`): Dealer's target retail margin as a decimal (e.g. 0.15 for 15%). Defaults to 0.15.
- **recon_cost_usd** (e.g. `1500`): Typical reconditioning cost per unit. Defaults to $1,500.
- **dealer_type** (e.g. `franchise`): "franchise" or "independent". Anchors channel-specific medians in calculations.

### Optional
- **radius_miles** (e.g. `50`): Search radius in miles (default 50).
- **car_type** (e.g. `used`): "used" or "new". Defaults to "used".

## Data semantics

Every price is a **listed (asking) price**, not a transacted sale price. "Recently off-market" comps show a vehicle's last list price (a sold proxy). The ML "MarketCheck Price" predicts an optimal listing price, not a sale price.

## How to run

Connect MarketCheck to Claude or ChatGPT at https://ai.marketcheck.com/install, then ask in plain English. Or open the report page and run it.
